About Us

Tom Jones developed a passion for pharmacy at an early age.  As a young boy in Kenly, NC he spent a lot of time with the local pharmacist who was essential in helping people in his small town manage their disease states and stay in good health.  Mr. Jones decided to pursue a degree in pharmacy after high school with the goal in mind of opening his own store.  In 1974, he purchased Forest Hills Pharmacy in Garner, NC and converted the store into Tom Jones Discount Drug.  Since 1974, he has expanded his hometown family pharmacy to include human and animal compounding, home medical equipment, pharmaceutical-grade vitamins and herbal products, diabetes supplies, and disease state consultations.  Throughout his career, he has strived to be innovative in his practice, implementing the first pharmacy drive-thru in the area in 1979.  Over the years, Mr. Jones has received enormous amounts of training in natural products and compounding.  Mr. Jones’ daughter, Caroline Hodges, began working in the business as a pharmacist in 1996.  Although he has been making compounds for years, in 2000 Jones decided to make it a larger part of his business, and since then he has compounded for thousands of human and animal patients.  He has even made prescriptions for rats, birds, and a squirrel!  In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Jones was voted best pharmacist in Garner.  When asked about the best part of being a pharmacist, Jones will tell you, “I enjoy helping people get well and using my compounding skills to meet their unique needs.”

In late summer or early fall 2008, Mr. Jones will relocate his pharmacy for the fourth time to location at 101 Timber Pointe Lane in Garner at the intersection of Timber Drive and Vandora Springs Road.  The new pharmacy will include a clean room for compounding sterile products, a larger selection of home medical equipment, more vitamins and herbal products, and a private consultation room.  Mr. Jones wants to keep his business current by updating his practice every 5 years.  The new store will allow Mr. Jones to better meet the needs of the growing community and accomplish his mission of helping people lead healthier, more productive lives.

The mission of Tom Jones Drug, Compounding, Home Medical and Nutrition Center is to provide the development and delivery of the finest prescription and compounding formulations to enrich the lives of all our customers.  In addition, Tom Jones Drug, Compounding, Home Medical and Nutrition Center provides the highest quality prescription compounding, sterile prescription compounding, regular prescriptions, home medical equipment, nutraceuticals, skin care, flavoring medicines, vitamins, nutrients, diabetes, and menopause/wellness consultations.  We provide positive therapeutic outcomes for patients with unique medication needs through the provision of customized medications, which have been specially formulated and prepared for our customers by our compounding pharmacists.
